Otunba Ganiyu Abiru, the Executive Secretary, Ikorodu Division Peace Initiative Limited (IDPIL)/GTE, has revealed that the ₦1.4billion Vocational Centre project of the group will be ready in another 12months for commissioning.
The retired Clerk/Permanent Secretary, Lagos State House of Assembly, said that the vocational center is part the IDPIL’s efforts at investing in the people of Ikorodu, especially the youths.
He revealed this at the 5th edition annual scholarship & bursary awards presentation by the lDPIL, held at the PISTIS Hub, Oba Sekumade Road, Ikorodu West LCDA, on Saturday.

The technical and vocational facility is an initiative designed to empower local youth, provide specialized skill acquisition, and engage youth.
“As an organisation, our mandate goes beyond providing support for security. Our vision is to complement the efforts of government and security agencies towards the safety of lives and property, thereby, facilitating peace and prosperity in Ikorodu Division.
“But we also understand that there can be no meaningful sustainable peace without development without investing in our people.

“This is the thinking behind our SHEER Development Agenda Security, Health, Education, Environment and Road Rehabilitation”. Revealing the IDPIL plans to commission the facility, Otunba Abiru, said the vocational initiative is part of the group’s efforts at preventing youth who could not access education due to financial incapacity, from roaming the streets.
“In another one year time, by the grace of God, we will be commissioning an expansive vocational school located at Bagidon. This vocational school will prevent our boys from roaming the streets and give them opportunity to learn some skills.
“One thing that is very important about this school is that the students of that school will be encouraged with the payment of minimum amount just to encourage them.

“That shows that IDPIL is doing its best at ensuring that no one in Ikorodu Division is left without doing any tangible thing for himself or herself.”
